02.17.10	Home DVD	This Screening is part of event: Weird Wednesday After Nightmares we watching this week's Weird Wednesday, Terminal Island. It's a movie about an island where society sends its violent criminals after it outlaws capital punishment. A young woman gets sent to the island... I can't remember exactly why, but I'm pretty sure it was for a justified killing. As you'd expect, the island is filled with bad dudes who treat the female convicts as sex slaves. She has to play along for a while until she gets rescued by a gang of slightly less evil convicts. Then there's a long battle between the evil bad guys and the kinda evil bad guys. Plus Tom Selleck is there as a doctor who lives with the evil bad guys but is actually a good guy. I found the movie to be rather tedious. There wasn't enough competent action to make it a worthwhile jungle warfare actioner, and there wasn't enough comedy, women, or sadistic overlords to make it a memorable WIP flick. Instead, it just sort of meanders from scene to scene. It didn't help that the print we watched was dark and muddled as hell, and it was hard to tell the bad guys apart a lot of the time. There's a fantastic theme song though. I forget the musician's name, but it sounded a lot like Johnny Cash. I need to rip it some time.
