This week's Horror Movie Night pick was an Australian slasher/giallo/ten-little-indians hybrid that was mentioned in Not Quite Hollywood (even though I have no recollection of it being feature). The movie starts with a very IMPULSE-esque scene where a young child transforms into a psychopath after seeing her mother having sexy time with a gross older man. But unlike IMPULSE, this young girl doesn't grow up to be William Shatner. Instead, she turns out to be a bug-eyed Aussie chick with a glass fetish and mild appreciation for local theater.

The movie's alternate title is Stage Fright, which is a reference to the fact that most of the film is her killing members of the theater troupe she recently joined. We don't actually see her perform the kills for most of the movie - we just see a gloved hand stabbing the victim with a shard of glass - but it's not a mystery that she's the killer.

My favorite moments in this film involved the awkward and rapid courtship between the killer chick and the lead dude in the acting squad. I particularly loved the scene where the girl runs to his house in the middle of the night, barges into his bedroom, wakes him up to say that she needs to talk, and then immediately runs out of the house. There's also several scenes where the main dude wears a completely ridiculous just-below-the-waist silk robe while he walks around his house.

The movie isn't particularly scary or thrilling, but it features a lot of bloody stabbing scenes and the main actress effectively pulls off the bug-eyed psychotic look.
