| 12.26.09 | Home DVD | When I announced on Twitter the other day that I'd never seen this movie, I was flooded with responses telling me I had to see it. I was skeptical because (a) it's a sequel, and (b) I'd read somewhere that it wasn't that good. I would have held off on watching this until next year if it wasn't for the urging of several Dallas friends who really wanted to get together to watch the film ASAP. I'm always up for a movie night, so we scheduled it for tonight. And I can honestly say that although I intellectually liked Gremlins, I wholeheartedly *loved* Gremlins 2. The balls Dante has to pull off all that meta self-referential stuff in what is otherwise aimed squarely at children... impressive. Plus all the great cameos. John Astin as a janitor! Who does that?
