And I don't have a lot to add. There are moments where the film dragged, but there were just as many moments that really worked for me. And the moments that worked by-and-large provoked an intense guttural response. On the first viewing, there's not a clear sense of what is going on with the main female protagonist. She may be going insane, or she may be dead, or she may be the subject of a massive conspiracy, or she may be the victim of an otherworldly crime ring. But whatever the case may be, her plight provoked a powerful response in me. A truly great film that rises about its film-festival roots. I was completely unsettled after the movie wrapped. Watching this movie was a nightmarish experience. And I mean that in the best possible way. |
