There's a feisty nun who knows how to swordfight, a trio of lead girls who are actually interesting to watch (an aberration in most horror movies), and plenty of gore and action thanks to Brian Trenchard-Smith. Rebellious Catholic school kids decide to skip the school dance and visit a haunted house. While there, the dead big sister of one of the girls (who apparently was in Night 1) crosses back over. The girls inadvertently bring her back to the school dance, where the dead girl spreads havoc. But not for long, as the kids, a nun, and a priest, head back to the haunted house, where things continue to get worse. This is one of my favorites of Trenchard-Smith's films, though it is completely unlike anything else I've seen from him. I've seen a few horror flicks he directed, but they dealt primarily with psychological horror. This was much more straightforward... a lot of humor, 80's-style practical gore, interesting kills, and very few boring bits... other than the fact that he used the all-black eyes for the undead (like he did in OUT OF THE BODY five years earlier), there's wasn't much to let you know it was a BTS film. I say that without having seen either of his Leprechaun films. Here's my tweets from the viewing: :: Up first: NIGHT OF THE DEMONS 2 (1994) #nightofthedemons2 http://twitpic.com/i8x2c :: The BTS seal of quality. #nightofthedemons2 http://twitpic.com/i8xao :: Some nice gore in this film already. Kudos BTS! #nightofthedemons2 http://twitpic.com/i8xor :: And a swordplay-practicing nun! Hope this movie can maintain this level of awesomeness #nightofthedemons2 http://twitpic.com/i8xvt :: BTS utilizes the all-black eyeballs he used in OUT OF THE BODY (1989) #nightofthedemons2 http://twitpic.com/i8ye5 :: And did I meantion that Christine Taylor is in this movie? #nightofthedemons2 http://twitpic.com/i8z0c :: "A kiss is a sin, when it is an upper persuasion to a lower invasion." #nightofthedemons2 http://twitpic.com/i8zff :: Haunted toilet! I love this movie. #nightofthedemons2 http://twitpic.com/i94fm :: They made it to the final boss! #nightofthedemons2 http://twitpic.com/i9ayw :: NIGHT OF THE DEMONS 2 is the best 80's horror flick ever made in the 90's. |
