Oh man... I loved this movie. I wouldn't be surprised if it made it on my year-end top 10 discovery list. It's a hicksploitation/good-old-boy regional movie from New Mexico about three brothers who free their Indian friend, Cima, from prison. One of the interesting things about the film is that Cima is a right bastard, having killed a cop in cold blood. And Leroy and his brothers aren't that great either, despite the fact that Leroy is a Bible-quoting zealot. He's even got a bedazzled crucifix on his bowler hat.

Man... there's so much greatness in this movie... here's my live tweets from when I was watching it:

:: And now for something completely different: Pistol-Packin' Leroy (1973), a regional western w/ Buck Flowers. Good intro theme by Lex Bax ...

:: Bible-quoting Leroy and the boys planning a jailbreak. I like this movie already. #pistolpackinleroy http://twitpic.com/8jkra

:: Leroy has a bowler with a crucifix on it. This movie is greatness. #pistolpackinleroy http://twitpic.com/8jl4u

:: Turns out this isn't a regional western, it's a regional good-ol'-boy flick. From New Mexico. With nose-harp aplenty. #pistolpackinleroy

:: The subject of Leroy's jailbreak is Kima, a revenge-bent Indian w/ a Billy Jack hat. #pistolpackinleroy http://twitpic.com/8jnkz

:: Leroy's hostage just used the phrase "fight like a de-testicled wolf"! #pistolpackinleroy

:: Don't view pic if you don't want the movie's spoiled. But you should look. It's cool. #pistolpackinleroy http://twitpic.com/8jq8i

So... that's it. Probably my favorite thing about this movie is that it *must* have been influenced by the Angel Leroy sequence in Preacherman (1971). I mean... this *has* to be a backstory to that bit, right? I can't find any connection yet between the two films in terms of cast or crew, so I'm figuring it may have just been that the filmmakers here were fans and wanted to flush out the Angel Leroy.
